Program

The Program is seven years old and has had positive impact on the lives of women and girls through:

• Training of over 2500 initiators and initiation of over 6500 girls

• Information dissemination on HIV/AIDS and other sexual transmitted diseases

• Behavior change of girls on sexual matters

• Prevalence rate of FGM reduced.

• More girls remaining in school.

• Change of attitude towards initiation vis-à-vis circumcision by community.

• Level of participation of the community increased.

• Change of means of livelihoods by traditional circumcisers and initiators.

• Improved reproductive health of women.

• Embracing and adoption of Tumndo Ne Leel and abandoned FGM by custodians of culture.

• Increase in demand for uncircumcised women for wives.

• Neighboring communities asking for a replication of model in their communities.
